Delete Your Account

You can permanently delete your Chaiverse account and its associated data at any time. This page explains how to request deletion, what is deleted, and what (if anything) is retained.

Option 1 — Delete in the app (recommended, instant)

  1. Open the Chaiverse app and sign in.
  2. Go to your Profile, then open Settings (the gear icon).
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm. Your account and associated data are removed.

Option 2 — Request deletion by email

If you can't access the app, email [email protected] from the contact associated with your account, with the subject "Delete my Chaiverse account" and your Chaiverse handle. We may ask you to verify ownership (for example, via a code to your registered mobile number) before processing, to protect you from someone else deleting your account. We action verified requests within 7 days.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes:

  • Your profile (handle, display name, avatar, bio)
  • Your posts, moments, comments, votes, and reposts
  • Your messages and group memberships, and your device public-key bundles
  • Your saved contacts and contact-match hashes
  • Your devices, sessions, and push-notification tokens
  • Your media (photos/videos you uploaded)

Because your messages are end-to-end encrypted and your private keys live only on your device, deleting the app from a device also destroys that device's keys — message content cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.

What is kept, and for how long

After deletion, the items above are removed from our live systems immediately and purged from encrypted backups within 30 days. We retain only the limited records the law requires us to keep:

  • Transaction / payment records (for any purchases or subscriptions) — retained as required by applicable tax and accounting law in India, and held by our payment processors (Apple, Google, Razorpay), not used for any other purpose.
  • Minimal abuse-prevention records (e.g., a hash of a number associated with a banned account) — kept only to prevent ban-evasion and abuse, never used for advertising or profiling.
